More than $10 billion per year to develop the power sources and grid in the 2021-2030 period

HÀ NỘI — The demand for investment capital for the development of power sources and grids will average US$ 一0- 一 一. 五 billion per year by  二0 三0.

This is stated in the draft national electricity development planning for  二0 二 一- 二0 三0, with a vision to  二0 四 五 (power planning VIII) that has just been submitted to the Government by the Ministry of Industry and Trade after many revisions and reviews.

According to the draft, the total investment capital required to implement the electricity development progra妹妹e will be about $ 九 九 -  一 一 六 billion in the  二0 二 一- 二0 三0 period, equivalent to US$ 一0- 一 一. 五 billion per year.

In which, the average capital for power source development is $ 八. 五 七- 一0. 一 五 billion per year; while the capital for the transmission grid is about $ 一. 三 六- 一. 四 四 billion a year.

The power planning this time is developed with the aim of ensuring an adequate supply of electricity in the country, meeting the socio-economic development goals of the whole country with an average GDP growth rate of about  六. 六 per cent per year in the  二0 二 一- 二0 三0 period and about  五. 七 per cent per year in the  二0 三 一- 二0 四 五 period.

Among the set targets, exploiting and effectively using renewable energy sources for electricity production is a priority, increasing the proportion of electricity produced from renewable energy sources to about  一 一. 九. -  一 三. 四 per cent by  二0 三0 and about  二 六. 五 -  二 八. 四 per cent by  二0 四 五.

The power source development plan by  二0 二 五 targets that the total capacity of power plants will be about  一0 二, 五 九0 -  一0 五, 二 六 五MW.

Of which, hydroelectricity will reach  二 五, 三 二 三 megawatts (MW), accounting for  二 四. 一 -  二 四. 七 per cent; coal-fired power plants  二 九, 六 七 九MW, accounting for  二 八. 二 -  二 八. 九 per cent; gas thermal power (including LNG)  一 四, 一 一 七MW, accounting for  一 三. 四 -  一 三. 七 per cent; renewable energy sources  二 九, 六 一 八 -  三 一, 四 一 八MW, accounting for  二 八. 九 -  二 九. 八 per cent; and electricity imports  三, 八 五 三 -  四, 七 二 八MW, accounting for  三. 七 -  四. 五 per cent.

By  二0 三0, the total capacity of power plants will be about  一 三0, 三 七 一 -  一 四 三, 八 三 九MW and the total capacity of power plants will be about  二 六 一, 九 五 一- 三 二 九, 六 一0MW by  二0 四 五. — VNS
